About The Play Park
The Play Park, otherwise known as the Tin Park, was a hardcore play area situated at the bottom of Almond Road, just off Balfour Road on Blanford Mere estate. Until mid-nineties was standard collection of indestructible council apparatus; child swings; teenage swings (two vucanised rubber seats and one 'ball breaker'); climbing frame; treacherous see-saw; 2 sticky-piss slides and lethal roundabout.
Since replaced by New Labour nanny-state bunch of rope and soft landings, making children grow up with no sense of danger and an unwarranted fear of tarmac, broken glass and flob. Flanked by strange grassy lumps that serve no purpose whatsoever.
